Group Partner: Irreverent Ceramics

Posted by Rocky + Luella on

Isaac Nichols of Group Partner started crafting hand-made “boob” planters in May of 2013 on a whim. Selling his first batch off his front stoop, he saw an opportunity. Once images of those pots were on Instagram, the Brooklyn based carpenter was greeted with an outpouring of positive feedback. He quickly received orders from friends, followers, and boutiques wanting to get their hands on his wares.

Nichols first got into ceramics when he began collecting succulents and cacti. The basic terracotta planters that they usually came in failed to move him, so he began creating his own. Crafting each pot by hand, he embraces and encourages imperfections in his creations. He wants his work to be fun, not fussy, and they exude a confidence and humor that creates an irresistible draw.

The Tanlines pot is a shop best seller, but we couldn’t choose just one style to stock. Rory and Adam add a touch of whimsy, and for our more conservative beach-goers, we have an assortment of bathing suits to choose from. The Group Partner pots are a perfect representation of our own philosophy for Rocky+Luella. They are bold, but understated. They are casual, but subtly elegant. And most importantly, they don’t take themselves too seriously.
